Leslie Feist

The Internet community is blogging about Leslie Feist, the Canadian singer-songwriter, who sang and appeared in the newest IPOD Nano advestisement. I downloaded some of her songs in limewire. And her sound is quite interesting. According to some, she is the next big thing and can be compared with Norah Jones in terms of voice and a fast fame she got from her first single that came out to the market.

I am so sleepy now. I went out last night. And… I will be out later. A good weekend before the hell weeks. Finals for Grad school and a lot of requirements are needed to be submitted.

Nodame Cantabile

Addicted to the live action version of Nodame Cantabile(a famous Manga in Japan)that was shared to me by another teacher who is a fan of Japanese Mangas. Find it really interesting and I just realized that I really enjoy watching it. I forgot to eat my dinner last night because of it. I want to finish the whole 11 episodes. I slept at around 2 am but still i need to finish 2 episodes tonight.You can read the plot here

Jeff Buckley

It was a long weekend for our students since they have no class today because of the Sangguniang Kabataan registration. The scheduled faculty meeting was rescheduled in the morning today so that means we need to go to work even though the students have no classes.

I’m still thinking if I will stay in Angeles this weekend. I want to go out this Saturday evening with my friends in Angeles but I also would like to finish all the paper works before our long test next week.

Got this CD from my kuya’s boxes after he left for Singapore this week. It was his old Jeff Buckley’s CD entitled “Grace”. One of my favorite song in the album is his cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” that was used in different television shows like The West Wing and The O.C.


Jeff Buckley (November 17, 1966 – May 29, 1997), born Jeffrey Scott Buckley and raised as Scotty Moorhead,[1] was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. I went home early to Angeles. It’s been a month since I went back to my hometown since I have a lot of activities and out of town engagement for the past weeks. The first thing I did is to eat the summer’s favorite halo-halo in CoolSpot, a famous food spot in the city. The place I very famous for its delicious halohalo with leche plan as toppings. After the merienda I went straight to my lola’s house to visit my 85 years old lola who celebrated her birthday last February 17. My grandmother is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and we are very thankful for every birthday she celebrates. After my visit, I went to the salon for a new haircut and to the grocery for the weekend food.

I watched the American Idol performance show last Wednesday and Thursday night and two of my favorite performers for the last performances were eliminated tonight. The Fil-Am AJ Tabaldo and the Jazz Singer Leslie Hunt have the best song choice.They both sang Nina Simone's Feeling Good. Tabaldo’s performance were appreciated by the three judges with its uniqueness, skills and strong vocals he showed. Simon even commented that AJ's performance is nearly very good. Hunt’s rendition of the song is really good with her 'jazzy' voice and her beautiful personality.

Too Busy

Got the a new CD last night in Greebelt Music One. Im stressed out the whole day yesterday even its the first day of work week. I dont know why Im into music right now but what Im assured of is that music relaxes me mentally. Someone is keep texting me for the past few days but when I'm trying to call the number no one answers the phone. Ang dami talagang walang magawa sa buhay. Im too busy para makiapaglokohan sa text. I have a lot of priorities in life and I don't have time anymore with other things. Some of my college friends are even asking me how can I budget my time with my masteral class, trainings, violin classes, my work and other administrative work in school in a week. I hope I will find time to relax or to have a vacation next month and not thinking my work and studies for at least 2 to 3 weeks.

Musical Weekend

Bayantel really sucks for the past months. We always have a problem about our Internet Connection almost every week.

A great weekend for me.
1. Bought 2 pirated DVD’s in Angeles (Michael Buble and Santana Supernatural Live Concert)
2 Purchased 2 original CD’s (Mishka Adams first album and a classical music compilation CD) in Music One. (To lessen the sin of buying pirated one..Heheh.)
3. Went to Duty Free Shops in Clark (Thanks to the 49.80=1$ exchange rate.)
4. Watched local TV shows (it’s been a long time)
5. Practice the violin.
6. Attended the PHP and MySQL training in UP-ITTC.
7. Ate a lot. (as in real food, not dorm food or from fastfood).

Mishka Adams- Her first album “God Bless the Child“is one of the great jazz album I have so far. Her version of Billie Holiday’s God Bless the Child and her original compositions “Mama’s Garden and “War of the Skies” are just few among my favorites.


Carlos Santana- even during my high school days, Santana is one of my favorite artist/guitarist because of his excellent guitar playing. What is good about Santana is that he knows how to reinvent himself and catch up with the evolving music that we have. His signature sound is one of the distinct qualities he has why a lot of people love his music.


Michael Buble- Just heard 3 of his performance in the DVD I bough last week but I don’t really like the style and voice quality he have. At first, some of his pieces are really good but it bores me at the middle till end of the song.

Beethoven Classical Compilation- Just bought this because the CD is on sale and besides classical music is classical music.:-) I have no right to tell if its good or not..ehehe

Pachelbel's Canon

I supposed to enroll yesterday afternoon in UP. Unfortunately, I did'nt finished the process since my status last sem is AWOL(absence without leave) and the allotted schedule for us is on the last day of enrollment. Since its too early to go back in my place, I decided to go to Ayala Center for my monthly magazine reading in Powerbooks Greenbelt. I read around 5-6 magazines andthen proceeded to Music One Record Store also in Greenbelt. I saw a copy of Pachelbel's Canon (Classical Music) and spend a long time deciding if I'll buy it or not since it cost too much(420 pesos). That cost is around 10-12 pirated CD's in bangketas and I need to save money since I'm paying for my tuition this semester.(Besides going back to my Master's program I also have my PHP and MySQL training in UP-ITTC every sunday). At the end, I decided to purchase it since I will never find Pachelbel's song in pirated copies. Pachelbel's Canon is one of my inspiration why I decided to learn the violin. It was the classical piece performed by Andy and Raphael(Pisay Students)during the Humanities week. Canon really relaxes me and this is the song I usually play when i surf the youtube.com. I wish that in the coming years(?) I myself can play the canon in my violin.:-)

Isha

Just discover another great filipina artist in the name of Pearlsha Abubakar a.k.a. Isha under the Candid Record Philippines label, a indie music recording company. Just got her CD last wednesday and after hearing her for the first time I was just hooked to the chant of her voice. The album includes eight (8) originals written and composed by ISHA herself including the piano instrumental 1992, the sweet and simple ‘Someday’, the tranquil happiness of endless rain ‘When It Rains’, the challenging battles of a married life in ‘Stormy We’, sad and poignant ‘Lately, I’ve Been’, the songwriters ‘beloved’ ‘Life After’, ‘Ice Skating’ and ‘Tomas and Tereza’ inspired by the famous Milan Kundera book THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING.

But few of my favorites are her interpretation of Peggy Lee's "I'll Be Seeing You" and "and "Our Love Is Here To Stay"
--
ISHA’s haunting rendition of ‘Ill Be Seeing You’ will surely send shivers, painting an ‘eerie’ and ‘ghostly’ level of goodbye and reminiscing memorable places.

Sitti and UpDharmaDown

It was a musical weekend for me. I got the copy of Sitti and UpDharmaDown's CD last friday before I went home to Angeles. Sitti, the new babe of Bossa Nova, with her new album,'Cafe Bossa', was as refreshing as her looks. She's not that excellent vocally compared to the older Bossa Nova artists but the new genre presented to Pinoy audience is enough to appreciate her music . Almost all her songs are covers from different foreign Bossa Nova artists and only one song is original and written in Tagalog entitled "Para sa Akin". I got interested to Sitti since I read the feature article last 2 weeks ago in Sunday Inquirer Magazine. She's a UP grad and lounge singer in a Hotel before she was discovered in MTV Supahstar, a singing contest.

The other CD is the UpDharmaDown album. I really like the techno-pop music they have and the African-European mixed voice of the vocalist. I really love their 1st single entitled "Pag-agos". Nice music and nice band, this is what UpDharmaDown is all about.
