The administration is not yet decided on the suggestion of an early 10-day semestral break in the next two weeks which is previously scheduled on November. The investigation about the fire last Tuesday is not yet final since they need to conduct the load and stress test of the Science and Humanities building to assure the safety of the community first. For the last two days, the administration seems to be busy preparing for the coming of some Singaporeans and Koreans which were previously scheduled before the accident. That means some immediate actions about the problems of relocation of the faculty and staff that are affected by the fire is not the priority of the administration. I don't know if that is a bright idea coming from a newly installed Director.
Yesterday, our department have decided to initiate and propose some alternatives to help the affected faculty member (mostly Humanities teachers). But I hope the administrators will focus on the immediate actions and remedies so that they can lead us for the betterment of the whole community in time of crisis. But one good thing we achieve is the camaraderie between our group and other teachers from the “other” building. For the past days, this camaraderie was seen. We are very grateful for the gratitude they have given to us. We assure them that all the help we can possibly provide will be shared to them.
