“Good design produces good instruction”
Edtech 206 is all about developing instructional materials especially focused on Education and Training. During the discussion, one thing that is always repeated is the idea of importance of a good instructional system design in producing either a good technology of instruction or a physical instructional material. One common model is the ADDIE model, a systematic approach to the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of learning materials and activities. The discussion was focused on how analysis, that includes needs analysis and problem identification, is very important start in instructional design development. Also, ADDIE model is a linear model wherein the output of the first step is very significant as an input to the next step and so on. As experienced, there are a lot of projects here in the country wherein developers didn't even have an analysis stage that is why the design on how to develop the instruction or the material is inappropriate and doesn't meet its objectives.
“There's always a better way to do it”
One thing that I learned during the first day of our meeting today is not be afraid to try exploring other ways in presenting a lesson. 'Traditional' instruction is not advisable these day since according to some research a student-centered instruction is more effective. Nowadays, a teacher acts as facilitator that guides its students in leaning.
